Professor Martin Filipec is a leading ophthalmologist in his native Czech Republic with an international reputation built on more than 25 years in the ophthalmic industry. After studying in France, he moved to Harvard where he qualified as a professor and was offered a professorship there but chose to return to the Czech Republic to establish the country’s first private eye hospital, the Lexum Eye Clinic.
Professor Filipec is a pioneer in corneal transplants and was the first laser eye surgeon to perform corneal graft in Afghanistan. His extensive specialist knowledge of eye micro-surgery, corneal transplants, cataract and laser treatment means he is in demand as a trainer of other surgeons in Eastern Europe and Afghanistan.
