Orbscan corneal eye mapping technology
The Orbscan is a highly specialized corneal mapping device which is used to evaluate the cornea in three dimensions before and after laser eye surgery.
It is recognised as being the “gold standard” for assessing the cornea and our Orbscan IIz is the most sophisticated mapping device available.
During the reading, over 9,000 data points from the entire cornea are taken using scanned slit beams of light. This provides a detailed map of the front and back surface of the cornea as well as a detailed analysis of the thickness across the entire cornea.
This information ensures that the eye is a suitable shape for laser eye surgery and is used to create the bespoke treatment plans along with the wavefront map.
